Full Description

In mid 1942 there was a steel Nissen-hut air-raid shelter on Mandeville Road, intended to accommodate 50 persons. It seems to have been placed here at some point after January that year. (An earlier scheme for a large pre-cast concrete trench shelter complex near Mandeville Road may have been one of those abandoned, after the creation of the Canterbury Nodal Point, because it fell outside the defensive perimeter.)
