Full Description
There was a Second World War school air-raid shelter at Kent College on the Whitstable Road. The headmaster of the time recalled: ‘We had our own concrete air-raid shelter behind the Pavilion [not the present structure] and beyond the swimming-bath it was rarely used’ before the school was evacuated in 1940. Doubtless a use would have been found for it by the numerous Army units who had headquarters at the school subsequently.
