Monument record TR 25 SW 263 - Rail block on the Canterbury to Dover Railway by Adisham Station

From mid 1940 there was a rail block on the London, Chatham, Dover Railway, near the crossing south of Adisham Station. Rail-blocks such as this were chiefly intended to hinder enemy tanks in their progress along railway lines towards London. The adjacent railway station was a significant military target in itself, with rail guns stationed on a siding, and may have influenced the placement of the obstacle, not least because there would have been a ready supply of troops to cover it. This rail block was assigned the number 63 in a list of such structures published 2 December 1940.
