Full Description
There seems to have been a Second World War pillbox in the edge of a wooded tract at south-west edge of the park surrounding Denne Hill. It would have been well placed to cover the roadblock at the ‘X-Roads’ nodal point on the Dover Road near Barham. Immediate post-war aerial photographs show what appears to be a pitched roof in the immediate vicinity of the stated Military Grid Reference (R 662676); could this have been aerial camouflage for the pillbox? This was pillbox No.105 in the 1940 list of pillboxes in East Kent (2 December). (1-3)
