Full Description

This pillbox, east of the junction of the Canterbury and Dover Roads, east of Barham village, was pillbox No.107 in the 1940 list of pillboxes in East Kent (2 December); it was in Sector 3 of the area, at the stated Military Grid reference R 665671. The junction formed the focus of the ‘X-Roads’ Nodal Point, and the pillbox probably formed part of the Nodal-Point defences. It may well have been concealed in the edge of Wick Wood, and may have sighted down the Dover Road to cover a roadblock about 300m to the south. It may also have covered a second road block nearby on Canterbury Road.
