Full Description
In late May 1940, the First Battalion (London Scottish) Gordon Highlanders, who then occupied Broome Park, established a temporary Road Block (at Military Grid Reference R 650660) in defence of their own camp. This was either on the long curving minor track that skirts the edge of Walderchain Wood, or (perhaps more likely) on one of the tracks leading off of this road, through the said wood, towards Broome Park. The block, manned by the highlanders, would be ‘put out unguarded on code word 'B' but removed when troops leave billets on operations.’ It was probably a fairly minor roadblock.
