Summary

Around 1940, some 150 yards of trenches were dug to prevent gliders from landing in a field south of Green Hills. These were filled in for agricultural purposes late in 1941.

Full Description

Around 1940, some ‘150 yards of trench 9x1’6”’ were dug to prevent gliders from landing in a field south of the road called Green Hills. This was probably the field to the west of the Elham Valley Railway. Another field, on the other side of this road, treated in the same way. Both were filled in for agricultural purposes late in 1941.
