Full Description
There was a pillbox in Bekesbourne, east of Larkshill on the south side of Adisham Road (which bounded the southern edge of Bekesbourne Airfield), it faced south-east as can be clearly seen in immediate post-war photographs. This was one of three pillboxes in Bekesbourne which, falling well to the south of the Dover, Canterbury, Whitstable Stop Line, and facing outwards (in this case south-east) from the airfield, may, at least in part, have been intended as defences for Bekesbourne Airfield, Ickham. This was pillbox No.101 in the 1940 list of pillboxes in East Kent (2 December); it was in Sector 3 of the area, at the stated Military Grid reference R 646730. It seems to have been demolished.
