Full Description

By October 1940 there was a Searchlight Emplacement in a field south of Crows Camp Road, south-west of Bishopsbourne village. This ‘Bishopsbourne Searchlight Emplacement (designated ‘D.G. 4.2’; Military Grid Reference R 623704) was manned by the 324 Anti-Aircraft Searchlight Company of the Royal Engineers under the direction of the 29 Searchlight Regiment of the Royal Artillery. At this time there seems to have been no adequate accommodation at the emplacement.
