Full Description

One of the buildings on the west side of Tile Kiln Hill, Blean, was fitted up as a fortified house in 1940. It may have defended the Dover, Canterbury, Whitstable Stop Line which followed the eastern edge of Church Wood - behind the premises on this side of Tile Kiln Hill. It probably defended the northern approach to Canterbury. It may also have been 49 Tile Kiln Hill, set some way back from the road, but this is far from certain. This was fortified house No. 27 in a list of such structures made 2 December 1940
