Full Description
By March 1941, ‘A’ Troop of 375 Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery had an anti-aircraft gun emplacement near Well Court (dairy?), Blean. The emplacement can be seen very clearly on immediate post-war aerial photographs, about 25m south of the end of Fleet Lane, Blean (i.e. the foot of the curving drive of Well Court), on the south-west side of the road. It looks to have comprised two concrete emplacements on either side of a hut(?) within a small, sub-rectangular ditched enclosure. Fire was directed from observation posts (shared with other Troops) on the coast between Herne Bay and Whitstable, and from ‘rear observation posts inland. Possibly the troop may have been billeted at Well Court.
