Full Description

This was a highly typical concrete, Type 24 pillbox in a field to the north of Denstroude Lane, Blean. It was concealed in a hedge-line, under trees, and is virtually invisible on immediate post-war aerial photographs. It was pillbox No.43 in the 1940 list of pillboxes in East Kent (2 December); it was in Sector 7 of the area, at the stated Military Grid reference R 555800. It faced north-west but one embrasure might have been able to cover Denstroude Lane. Metal brackets for shelves survive internally, under the embrasures, but the shelves themselves have gone.
