Monument record TR 26 NW 1120 - Second World War Royal Artillery observation post at Highstead, Chislet
Summary
By June 1940 there was a Second World War Royal Artillery observation post in a field to the east of Highstead. The stated Military Grid reference (R 661843) falls very close to the local pillbox, which itself stood on a strange little spur of land. Might the pillbox have been used as a vantage point (and/or a poor sort of accommodation?).
