Full Description
In May 1940 the 8 Royal Fusiliers seem to have operated a temporary roadblock near the crossroads in Chislet village (Military Grid reference R 666826) - most likely on Chitty Lane. The strategic importance of this is as yet unclear, unless to prevent enemy troops from progressing eastwards. The block may have been covered by a pillbox at Highstead, further west.
