Full Description

This was a pillbox just to the south of the Thanet Way, west of Marshside, Chislet. It was wholly of reinforced concrete construction and was dug well down into the ground in the middle of a large field. It faced north-east toward the Thanet Way, which was a major new road (1934) and would have offered invaders a very inviting route toward London; it was among a series of pillboxes built along this route. It was pillbox No.12 in the 1940 list of pillboxes in East Kent (2 December) (2 December); it was in Sector 7 of the area, at the stated Military Grid reference R 664855
