Full Description
There survives a Second World War concrete Type 24 pillbox in a field to the east of Canterbury Road, Tyler Hill. It points north-west toward the fork at the north end of Canterbury Road, where there was a contemporaneous roadblock, defending the city. This was pillbox No.22 in the 1940 list of pillboxes in East Kent (2 December); it was in Sector 7 of the area, at the stated Military Grid reference R 585786. The pillbox stood at a field boundary which would probably have provided a degree of concealment.
