Summary
There was a Second World War roadblock on the bridge by which the Pilgrims’ Way crossed the Dover to Canterbury Railway. This railway, here, formed part of the Dover, Canterbury, Whitstable Stop Line, and the bridge falls just outside the Outer Perimeter of the Canterbury Fortress. It will have been covered from a fortified house at the east end of St Augustine’s Road.
