Monument record TR 15 NE 914 - Second World War Canterbury Fortress Forward Post at the Mobilization Store, Sturry Road

Summary

In the 1941 Canterbury Fortress Defence Scheme, the ‘Mobilization Store’ was assigned as a Forward Post. The northernmost of two small buildings flanking the entrance was prepared as a fortified house, and there was another at the eastern corner of the compound. Two weapon pits were constructed behind the site's north-eastern boundary.
