Full Description

By mid September 1941, probably as part of the strengthening of the Canterbury Fortress, a fortified house had been established in a building at the junction of Palace Street and The Borough, Canterbury - sighting down the latter. This was unusual in falling some way within the Inner Perimeter of the Fortress, but had a clear view down to the roadblock on this perimeter. It does not seem to feature in the Defence Scheme of January 1942; had it, by then, been abandoned?
