Full Description

By mid September 1941, probably as part of the strengthening of the Canterbury Fortress, a fortified house had been established in an outbuilding (now demolished) against a wall at the western edge of the grounds of Barton Court. Fire would have been directed southwards down an adjacent track leading toward the New Dover Road. This was part of the defences of Barton Court, which was an important Defended Locality under the 1941 Canterbury Fortress Defence Scheme.
