Full Description

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during groundworks for a new dwelling. Observations identified evidence dating from the post-medieval period including pottery, clay pipes and the remains of previous buildings and cellars. Of particular interest in the pottery assemblage were South Spanish coarseware jars which are quite a rare find, they were probably brought in with the intense martime activity around the Deal area during the late 18th and early 19th centuries (1)
