Full Description

Second World War gas decontamination centre built on council playing fields off Cedar Avenue, Gravesend, Kent. This single storey flat roofed building was constructed in 1940. It contains the usual entrances for undressing, shower and changing rooms and a boiler room. It was once part of a complex of civil defence buildings on the playing fields. It would have been decommissioned by the end of the Second World War, being retained in use as changing rooms for the playing fields in which it is situated. This has involved some internal alterations such as the insertion of partitions.(1)
