Moat built c.AD 1524. When the moat was cleared out in 1860, the old oak drawbridge was found. Moatlands is a large 19th c. brick house in castellated gothic style with no visible evidence of an earlier house. It is now used as a country club. To the W. of the house is a homestead moat, water-filled and generally in good condition although the N.W. angle suffered some mutilation when the drive to the house was constructed.
