Full Description
Two early British silver coins, found at Hythe, were presented to Birmingham Museum by E Marston Rudland. One may be a Verica (a) (1) The coin from Hythe, described as a possible Verica, has now been identified as a previously unknown type of silver minim (possibly Eppilus). (2) A silver minim found at Hythe. Classified as Mack 316E, the obverse shows a horseman holding a spear or carryx, and the reverse, a seated male figure wearing a belt and holding a spear or staff behind. (3) TR 1634. Mack 316E found at Hythe. Appears to be a war casualty. It was wrongly assigned to Venica, as the style suggest Eppillus. Presently located in Birmingham Museum. (4)
