Full Description
A woodland survey carried out by the Friends of Old Park Wood in 2009 recorded a number of archaeological features. Among these were two ponds (for watering stock?) surrounded by banks.
The upper pond is fed by a spring, the embankment formed by a wood bank orientated west to east across the slope. The second pond lies to the north of this and is fed by the first. Here another embankment has been made taking advantage of the natural lie of the land. Both ponds lie to the west of a feature that has been interpreted as a park pale (1)
