Full Description
An archaeological evaluation carried out in 2008 revealed possible evidence of 16th or 17th century charcoal burning or bonfire activity as well as a possible garden bed for the Tonbridge Union Workhouse. The remains of a number of prefab buildings were also discovered that were associated with the construction of the 20th century hospital.
The evaluation also revealed that much of the site was truncated in the post-war period, particularly towards the Tonbridge Road. (1)
