Monument record TR 06 SW 262 - Tanneries and tanning processes in Tanners St, Faversham
Summary
Documentary research and three small scale excavations in gardens on the west side of Tanners St gave evidence for tanneries in these locations which were active from AD1300 to 1840. Further photographic and map evidence was found for a drying shed at the northern end of Tanners St still active in around 1910.
