Full Description
Chalk and brick foundations of a possibly 18th century building and a large sand quarry were found during an evaluation and a watching brief on the site. They may have been associated with the mills located in the area (1-2). The quarry was deep with steep sides and filled with a homogenous backfill. Some late post-medieval material was found within it. A rammed chalk floor was also found which may have been part of an 18th or 19th century building (2).
