Full Description
remains of three walls, which combined, could possibly have been a corridor or antechamber within the Queen's Lodgings. The first was orientated on a north-south alignment at a depth of + 13.06 m with a width of 0.82 m length before truncation of 0.6 m. That could extend further south beneath the edge of excavation and north under later features re-emerging as wall heavily truncated, located next to the excavation edge. Both constructed from roughly cut caen blocks bonded together with a moderate light yellow brown sandy mortar with small flint inclusions. Although there is no direct relationship this may have been a conjunction with a roughly east-west aligned wall that extends for 1.9 m with an unknown width, at a depth of + 13.24 m. This was constructed with rare small to medium Caen stone bonded with moderate to compact light brown yellow sandy mortar. (1)
