Summary

Site of Martello Tower No.18. The tower was built in 1805. It was largely destroyed by coastal erosion before 1939. The tower was visible as a totally collapsed ruin on aerial photographs taken in 1942. No remains are now visible on recent aerial photographs taken in 2007.

Full Description

[TR 14193308] Martello Tower (No.18) (NR) (1) No remains. (2) TR 142331. Martello No.18 built in 1805. It was practically destroyed by the sea before the Second World War, but the ruins are visible. (3,4)

The tower was built in 1805. It was largely destroyed by coastal erosion before 1939. The tower was visible as a totally collapsed ruin on aerial photographs taken in 1942. No remains are now visible on recent aerial photographs taken in 2007.
