Monument record TQ 76 NE 430 - Former site of an 18th and 19th century garden, Chatham Dockyard
Summary
Between 1719 and 1755 this site was laid out as a formal garden belonging to the Commissioner of the Dockyard. After 1832, when the commissioner's duties passed to the Captain Superintendent, the garden was similarly renamed. The layout was changed at least once during the 18th century and the garden was gradually built over in the 19th century.
