Full Description
Following a conversation with a local Forestry Commission Ranger a visit to the site was made by KURG members in March 2010.
A local farmer had known one of the members of the local Aux Unit who had described the site and location which he had passed on to the Ranger. The farmer had visited the site ‘many years ago’ and had been inside the bunker which consisted of a low narrow tunnel leading to a much larger chamber cut in the chalk.
KURG found the entrance in the eastern face of an old chalk quarry face at TR 17011 46254. The small tunnel which was almost obscured by slippage from the old quarry face was found to be blocked by a major roof fall after a few metres. (1)
