Findspot record TR 14 NW 6 - Anglo-Saxon Ring found Middle Farm

Summary

An Anglo-Saxon ring was found on 8th August 1968, when digging a potato field on Middle Farm, Bodsham. When found the ring had been flattened. It is now in the British Museum. It is of a gold alloy inlaid with niello and has an inscription in Anglo Saxon capitals. The rings ornamental features relate it to metalwork decorated in the Trewhiddle style and as such it should probably be dated to the 9th century.
