TR 106457. A C7th/C9th Saxon gold ring was found on the surface in 1968 at Bodsham Green (1)

The exact findspot was pointed out on the ground at TR 10574567. The ring, found during market gardening was bought by the British Museum, where it is now on display. Surveyed at 1:2500 (2)

TR 10754565 (sic) An Anglo-Saxon ring was found on 8th August 1968, when digging a potato field on Middle Farm, Bodsham. When found the ring had been flattened. It is now in the British Museum (reg no 1969, 6-6,1). It is of a gold alloy inlaid with niello and has an inscription in Anglo Saxon capitals. The rings ornamental features relate it to metalwork decorated in the Trewhiddle style and as such it should probably be dated to the 9th century. (3)
