Full Description
Three Iron Age coins from Elham: one each of: Evans type A:5, uninscribed at 0.25-stater ["Gaulish (Bellovaci?) coins current in pre-Belgic Britain acc. to Brooke: The Philippus in the West, Num. Chron. 5 XIII (1933) p.99: "imported" acc. to Allen: Belgic Dynasties, Arch. XC (1944), p.30]. Evans type B:7, uninscribed A/ stater ["Gaulish (Atrebates?) coins of the first Belgic Invaders" acc. to Brooke, op. cit., p.102]. Evans type B:8, uninscribed as stater [so-called "coins of the Morini", imported Gaulish Acc. to Brooke op. cit. p.104 and Allen, op. cit. p.30]. All three formerly in Rolfe Collection, the first later acquired by Evans. (1)
