Full Description
One of ten Advanced Landing Grounds built in 1942-3. It consisted of two Sommerfeld Tracking runways, 4800 feet and 3750 feet long, with taxiways parallel 300-500 feet to the side. It was used by the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1943 onwards, with Mustangs from Nos. 414 and 430 Squadrons. An early Prefabricated Bituminised Surfaced runway was laid in 1943 by the RCAF. The site was quickly returned to agricultural use after the war.
