Full Description
[TR 15834104]. Romano-British inhumation burial found in bank beside road during construction of a drive to a new bungalow in October 1961. At the feet was a two handled flagon of pink-ware (Richboro type 379 AD 190-260) and a long iron nail, possibly from a wood coffin; there were also many iron studs or hobnails of decayed shoes. Flagon on exhibition in Maidstone Museum Acc No: 70/61. (1) The findspot was pointed out by Mr Shallcross, the builder (b), at TR 15824104, on the S. side of the entrance to "Field View", Woodlands Road, Lyminge. (2)
