Full Description

Two dark linear cropmarks separated by a lighter area run for c.125m across a field in Tunstall, south of Hearts Delight Road. The road is c.10m wide, runs parallel to Watling Street (c.2300m to the north) and runs towards the Sutton Baron possible villa site. Part of Sutton Baron Road is on the same alignment.

The first edition Ordnance Survey 25" map shows a field boundary running part way along the alignment with a boundary stone at the end. This may represent reuse of the alignment as a landscape feature or that the cropmark is the product of post-Roman field boundaries.

Visible on aerial photos of 1990.
