Full Description
Field survey at Potyn’s Field, undertaken by Maidstone Area Archaeological Group between Jan-Mar 2010. 60 non-metal finds include red brick, peg tile, pottery, and occasional glass and shell. Pottery included glazed earthenware and china dating from 1800-1950, with one sherd of Delftware that may be earlier. 97 non-iron finds range from 4 musket balls to wrist watches. 73 iron finds largely agricultural or munitions-related. Earliest coin of 1867. All material post-medieval with the exception of 3 flint pieces - one struck, one burnt, one scraper, possibly of Neolithic / Bronze Age date. (1)
