Full Description
Evaluation excavation undertaken by MoLAS in Dec 2007 prior to construction works at Peter’s Village, Wouldham. The natural chalk bedrock shows signs of being quarried on three sides. This could relate to the nearby post-medieval lime kilns or later 19th-20th century cement works. Against one quarry face was a dump of 19th century brick rubble and 20th century concrete fragments.
