Archaeological evaluation undertaken by Archaeology South-East in Feb 2006 at the site of the former Veglios Hotel near Junction 6 of the M20.

Iron Age / Roman ditch orientated E-W, 1m wide, 0.4m deep, 1.8m long (width of trench). Contained two sherds of Iron Age / Roman pottery. (1)

In 2011 Archaeology South-East carried out a watching brief on ground level reduction works. A ditch was found which probably relates to a Late Iron Age/early Roman enclosure, however, later material including 20th century rubbish, was found within the fill. This may be contamination and the ditch is of earlier origin, given the volume of pottery of this date. (1)
