Full Description
Evaluation undertaken by Compass Archaeology in 2010 prior to construction of the East Wing of Maidstone Museum.
Foundations of the western end of the Gatehouse to Brenchley Gardens were found. This was built c.1873 and demolished in 1940 following bomb damage. Construction of the Gatehouse has probably removed any traces of earlier archaeological activity; three prices of reused moulded stone are the only sign of earlier buildings. (1)
