[TQ 5951 6889] Earthworks (Site of) [NAT] (1) [TQ 5951 6889] - [sited from AP see AO/LP/63/325]. Cropmarks in a field to the W of Salt Farm, Fawkham were first noted by Mr Raine and subsequently photographed from the air by O.G.S.Crawford. The chief feature is a pentagon-shaped enclosure, with a wide entrance roadway or ditch in one side, which Jessup compares with the EIA farm at Woodbury. Also in the field are some ploughed-out deneholes. The only finds within the enclosure were two sherds of sub-Roman pottery. Half a dozen poor flint flakes have been found on the surface in other parts of the field. (2,3) Area under permanent pasture: Nothing seen. (4)
