Full Description
Small Archuelian hand-axe found many years ago at Bretts Quarry, Canterbury by the donor's father. In Canterbury Museum. Acc. No. 9194, donor: FRS Atkins, 9 Seymore Place, Canterbury. (1, 2). Various possible quarries could have been the source, including the one at Fordwich, TR 180590. Original HER record gave TR 158593 as site location reference, but nothing to substantiate this in historical mapping or other sources. Possibly same site as Bowes' Riverdale site at TR 161600 (3). Suggested location here is another historical quarry at TR 170598.
