Full Description
(TR 150581) Bronze censer-cover with inlaid nielloed silver plates (3) was found c1867 at a depth of about 9ft by WH and W Crippen while laying a drain to connect to the main sewer at the northern or borough end of Palace Street (1). Dated to the 10th or early 11th century by comparison with manuscripts (3). It is now in the Dept of Medieval and Later Antiquities, British Museum Acc No 1927 11-16.1. (1-4)
