Full Description
(Sited to approx TR 153578 from OS 1:1250 1959). A fragment of a coarse marble tombstone RIB43 (see illust) was found in February 1922 outside the Great Gate (Abbey Gate) of St Augustine's Abbey. Now in the museum of St Augustine's Missionary College, Canterbury. The inscription, not clearly cut reads [D (is)] M (anibus) l ...] erna l [ann (orum)] XIV [ ...'To the spirits of the departed;...] erna, aged fourteen ...'. (1-3)
