Full Description
A short length of walling eight and a half ft high, possibly contemporary with the original foundation of St Augustine's Abbey runs for c130ft from the NE angle of Cemetery Gate (TR 15385772). The S. side is re-used Roman brick and probably dates from the Saxon period. The N side has been refaced in Tudor times. (1-2) Another length of wall running from the SW tower of the Abbey Church is 16th century King's garden wall, shown on plan (at TR 15405772). (3)
