Monument record TR 15 NE 268 - Early Medieval/Medieval wall

Summary

Medieval wall originally about 8.5 feet high, antedating contructionally the building of Cemetery Gate and running from the north east corner of the gate in an easterly direction for nearly 180 feet. It is refaced on its southern side with Roman bricks of an identical build to those re-used in St Pancras' Chapel. It has been suggested (Cotton 1915) that this may have been part of the original precinct wall of St Augustine's.
