Monument record TR 15 NE 291 - Julia de leyborne's chapel

Summary

Chantry chapel set in the angle of the nave and south transept of St Augustine's Abbey. This was built for Juliana de Leybourne, Countess of Huntingdon in 1362. Many fragments of carved and painted stonework remain from this chapel and indicate that it must have been panelled in stone with elaborate niches and figures of saints. Some stonework remains in position near the altar site.
