Full Description
(TR 15425774 - see illustration card for plan). A rectangular structure 7.10m x 6.90m constructed of chalk blocks bonded with pink mortar, located in 1975 by H Woods during excavations for DOE to S of nave. This building rests on the medieval ground surface sealing the graves of the lay cemetery. It was possibly erected after the Dissolution in 1538, but if so it would have had a life of only 15 years as the S aisle walls were demolished in 1553. (1-2) Additional references. (3-5)
