Monument record TR 15 NE 301 - Infirmary passage, medieval - St Augustine's Abbey

Summary

Infirmary passage at St Augustine's Abbey constructed in the early 12th century with 13th and 14th century additions. This was originally a covered way which ran west from the main door on the south west side of the infirmary to another passage under the southern end of the dormitory. This and other parts of this complex of buildings were excavated in 1903-7 and subsequently covered up with soil. The area is now used as a playing field. The passage is occasionally visible as a parchmark.
