Monument record TR 15 NE 306 - Slype, St Augustine's Abbey

Summary

Slype and Sacristy, 12th century in date located north of St Augustine's Abbey church. The slype or passage way led to the monks cemetery. The construction of this was probably begun by Abbot Wido and finished by Abbot Hugh de Fleury. In later times the slype was made into a small room, possibly a vestry or parlour.
